Rules regarding Study Island assignments are as follows:
GRADING INFORMATION
For each blue ribbon earned, you will earn 10 points.
If you demonstrate that you at least attempted the work, but do not receive a blue ribbon, you will receive from 1 to 9 points – depending on the quality of your work and the amount of time you spent on the assignment.
There are no score resets this year. If you are unable to earn the blue ribbon on an anchor, it is still possible for you to earn at least 8 points. If you complete 50 questions with a good effort, you will score no worse than 8 out of 10 on that anchor.
If you do not complete a Study Island assignment on time, you will receive a zero. If you do not complete at least 10 questions on a given anchor, you will receive a zero.
If you score 90% or higher on an anchor and have completed a minimum of 25 questions on that anchor, you will earn 3 extra credit points.
GENERAL INFORMATION
You are expected to work on Study Island during any free time that you have in school. You may also work on Study Island assignments at home. When you have achieved a blue ribbon for all anchors, you are finished with that assignment. You may then try to improve your score to earn extra credit.
If you do not have Internet access at home, see me immediately so that we can make sure you have a computer to use at school.
Grades will be calculated on the final due date of each assignment. You have weeks to complete each assignment. There are no extensions. Do not wait until the last day to begin your work.
Study Island assignments give everyone who chooses to work the opportunity to improve his/her grades. Study Island will be the primary way to earn extra credit in your math class this year.
